Following dreams of becoming a screen writer I ventured to Brisbane in 2012 to study film production. Whilst I still love writing, during my course I actually fell in love with video editing and was desperate to do more! Long story short, in order to edit video I needed footage to edit, so Luke (now husband) and I decided we should invest in a camera. Nothing too fancy; a slightly lower price point Canon 60D that actually captured amazing footage but was also definitely far better then any point-and-shoot I had ever owned. Here began my aim to start shooting to edit; promo films and some weddings, however, Luke also picked up this camera and became even more obsessed than me…only difference was he had it in photo mode.
Luke is now a five year in, self taught photographer with a far better camera who has taught me far more than my degree could! He is truly passionate about his craft; his eye, skill and editing has evolved so much I am honestly blown away when he shows me his shots. He loves capturing people but is equally obsessed with shooting landscapes, landmarks and streets and recently when I caught him throwing rose petals around the house, I found he just loved shooting pretty things…pretty things you could hang on your wall.
Prints are HUGE these days! Anyone with an eye for styling will have print-adorned walls of stunning images, colours or script. Gone are the days of family photo after family photo (some are ok!) and the days of styling the crud out of your blank walls are here! I am not a fan of clutter, but fill your walls people! It can be beautiful, personal, quirky or relaxing and completely transform a space if done well.
Luke John Photography has just opened up his very first print shop and I couldn’t be prouder! There will be more images to come however for now check out his current selection featuring Paris, London, some South Australian landscape and those romantic rose petals I mentioned.
Buy them, frame them.
