"It’s interesting to me that the age of thirty is the age of either feeling accomplished or unaccomplished."
A few people have asked me recently how I feel about turning thirty and I found it a really odd question. They asked as if I was expected to reply negatively about getting older and that it was somehow a distressing subject. I replied by saying I honestly hadn’t thought anything about it because I just feel like an independent, organised and very mature 18 year old! I feel like everything in my life has progressed for the better but age has had nothing to do with it. All I can say about turning thirty is that, provided you have some life achievements under your belt, it can only be good! Even if you don’t have many or any, but are happy with where you are right now then who cares what age you are! Maybe I am tainted for the better by still being asked for ID but honestly, I am healthy, busy and have not yet been aged by children so I guess that’s the magic cocktail to feeling young haha!
What I really want to say is that today I sipped a glass of red wine (so very mature) and thought about how happy I am with my life and if I had gone back and written a list of goals to achieve before I turn thirty, I probably would have ticked them all off;
– Get married
– Start my own business
– Have a job I love
– Buy first home
– Build a house
– Travel overseas
– Go to 4 Taylor Swift concerts (although it will be 5 in November…)
That’s it..for now! I wonder what my “Before I Turn 40 Goals” will be…?
It’s interesting to me that the age of thirty is the age of either feeling accomplished or unaccomplished. But the truth is, there’s so much more life after thirty that why is it bad to not yet have accomplished some things? Why also must we achieve everything before thirty? What would there be to look forward to if we all said, “Oh I’m thirty now, I’m done!” No one says that!
I’m trying not to brag by saying I feel soooo young that turning thirty means nothing to me, I am just super happy that I am…super happy! There are so many more things to do but I am not for a second sad they haven’t been achieved yet. Having said that, it is never too early or too late to do something you really want to do! I started this business kind of incidentally and it has changed my life without me even realising. I am so blessed to have found something I love doing and am gifted at, and to be able to have turned that into my career is a real pinch myself thing.
In conclusion, turning thirty has just been another birthday where I get to have a few extra special celebrations because it’s the big 3-0! And I am only so pleased with where I am due to the amazing people who support and love me, helping me to live the life I do!
Happy birthday to me I suppose!
Also, massive shout out to my husband who organised these spectacular flowers from Liesa at Fleur De Lys
